Interestingly, the shots use the plain prototype base! The back panel features several shots of Rin, including one where she's displayed with Len. The other side panel shows how this illustration was realized in figure form. I rather prefer a more-mature looking Rin Kagamine, and Tony's illustration does just that! One side panel features a gorgeous full-panel shot of the Tony illustration on which the figure was based. The box prominently features the signature colors of the Kagamine twins-yellow, orange, and black. This particular figure is based on an illustration of Rin by the well-known illustrator Tony Taka ENCYCLOPEDIA #8344, and she and Len ITEM #149558 were the third and fourth Max Factory Vocaloids to get the Tony Taka treatment, following Hatsune Miku ITEM #29253 and Megurine Luka ITEM #72522. Rin's voice is generally described as "warm" and "powerful". Rin is voiced by Asami Shioda and she was released along with her twin Len Kagamine on December 27, 2007. Upping the anticipation was month after month after month of delays, so was she worth the wait? I guess you'll have to keep reading to find out.Ībout the character: Rin Kagamine is the persona associated with one of the voices in Crypton's Vocaloid voice synthesizer. YAMAHA and Crpyton printed different dates for the release of KAITO, YAMAHA's being the 14th of February and Crpyton's being the 17th.Today we'll be reviewing a figure that was probably my most-anticipated figure in a couple of years, Max Factory's Rin Kagamine. KAITO supposedly has two anniversaries.KAITO's codename, "TARO", most likely came from "Yamada Taro", which is a placeholder name for male characters. In 2008, he was often associated with ice cream, which later gave birth to the "Item War" internet meme tradition. During the time period of his V3 update, Crypton officially stated that his clear muffler could be made out of anything, including plastic.KAITO's muffler is his most iconic items. In 2007, however, he was ranked as the 7th most popular VOCALOID product to be sold. When KAITO was first released, he was initially called a "commercial failure" after only selling 500 units in his first year (1,000+ units indicate success).MEIKO is his counterpart, as in she is a complementary voice bank to go with him. These voicebanks included "STRAIGHT, SOFT, WHISPER, and ENGLISH". The pack came with 4 vocal libraries to give users what they needed for basic sound making. In early January, KAITO V3's voicebanks were completed and were set to be released mid-February 2013. However it was unknown if they would be updated to VOCALOID2 or VOCALOID3. In December 2010, Crpyton officially announced that they were planning on updating their older VOCALOID vocals. Officially, he is known as just KAITO no family or surname. Due to the popularity of this name, it is still incorrectly used by fans. However, "Shion" is a fan-made term that was used to refer to him during 2007-2009. Many people believe that KAITO's last name is "Kaito Shion" or even "Shion Kaito". It also fit the name "MEIKO", Kaito's counterpart, when paired with each other. When he was still being developed, the actual product's name was open to the public for choosing, and "KAITO" was selected because it was easy for non-Japanese speakers to be able to pronounce it. Voiced by the famous Japanese singer Naoto Fūga and initially released in February 2006 for the first Vocaloid engine, KAITO is a Japanese Vocaloid who was originally developed by Yamaha Corporation and distributed by Crypton Future Media INC., along with his VOCALOID3 update.
